How fog computing disrupts the cloud computing industry
Universal access to computers gives us the ability to solve computing tasks on PCs located anywhere, so we now have a third option: fog computing.
Fog computing has the following advantages:
• global resource availability - while data centers are not located in every town or city, home and office computers are everywhere and available for use
• data can be crunched near the place where it is generated, saving network bandwidth
• it makes use of cheap consumer-grade GPUs rented directly from crypto miners to boost your machine learning
• extremely cheap prices: no data center overheads, none of the high operating margins of cloud service providers
